Tantalising Tuesday - Kissing in the Rain

Hello and welcome back to Tantalising Tuesday.

As you know I am supposed to pick a picture and write 200 words relating to it. Well I seriously failed this week. Not only did I have to rely on a good friend Doris to provide yet another picture, I ended up getting so lost in the picture, and what they two characters were telling me, that my word count is over 500. Now this completely goes against the whole exercise, but I just couldn't help it.  Here is the picture:

The picture itself was taken from Pinterest. How romantic is that! Now you understand why I had sooooooo much trouble keeping it short. The picture itself is amazing, it speaks so many words. Any way, here is my tease for today. I hope you like it.

His heart pounded in his chest as he ran after her. The heavy rain obscured his vision, but he ran through it anyway. He could just see the back of her black dress through the haze. Their bare feet slapped on the floor as they splashed through the puddles. John knew he had been way out of line the other day. Only today, when he came to apologise, did he see just how deep his words had cut. By God he was sorry. But Marie bolted. She shouted that she didn’t want to see him and then she ran.

Here is was, chasing her on the roof top of the apartment building. She reached the wall and put both hands down on it, her torso bent over and her shoulders shaking violently. He could tell she was still crying. He slowed his pace.

“Look at me Marie,” he shouted, but she didn’t turn. “For God sake Marie look at me, I’m trying to tell you that I love you.”

She straightened at his words and slowly began to turn. He knew she was the one for him, now at the fear of losing her, he was ready to admit it. He kept taking slow steps towards her until he was about a foot away.

“I love you, I fucked up and I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”

“I forgive you John, I said it doesn’t matter, just go, leave me alone.”

He nearly gave in and did as she asked, but something in his gut told him to stand fast and try harder. She was worth it.

“I can’t, Marie. Somewhere in the middle of all of this I fell in love with you. I tried to deny it and look where it’s got me.”

She looked at him with her forehead furrowed. John knew she didn’t follow what he meant, so he elaborated.

“Here, Marie, running in the rain, right back to you. I don’t want to run any more, Marie. Not from you. Not from us.”

“There is no us John, you made that perfectly clear,” she snapped back, and John saw it wasn’t just the rain running down her face. He had caused her so much pain and he had to fix it. John stepped closer and tucked her soaked hair behind her ear.

“See that’s where you are wrong Marie,” he lowered his voice as he spoke to the window of her soul. Then he smiled with one side of his face as he scooped her up into his arms. Her shocked gasped as he did made him smile even more.

“You and me, will always be,” He said before his mouth descended on hers. As their lips met, her body tensed momentarily before she relaxed and kissed him back. Her arms went round his neck and one hand tangled itself in his hair, as she pulled him closer for a deeper, fuller kiss.

Marie pulled away from him and for a moment he was worried she would still turn him down.

“Take me home and get me out of these wet clothes,” she said as the fire in her eyes ignited something deep within him.

  5. I was shivering with the rain and conflict. I liked her change of heart to have him take her home, shed their wet clothes and warm their cold bodies with the heat of the resoltion to bimnd them in the heat of love.
